Elastic IPs Addresses

A Elastic IP address can be used to access a virtual machine that is connected to a virtual network from public networks like the Internet. The private IP address of the virtual machine is mapped to an address selected from a real network. The network interface of the virtual machine simultaneously uses the private and Elastic IP addresses. To connect with other virtual machines on the virtual network, utilize the private IP address. Public networks can reach the virtual machine using the Elastic IP address.

Prerequisites

info
  • The Virtual Machine to assign a Elastic IP to has a fixed private IP address.
  • The virtual router connects the physical network, from which a Elastic IP will be picked, with the VM’s virtual network.

Create a Elastic IP Address

  1. On the "Elastic IPs" page, click "Create a Elastic IP".
  2. In the Create a Elastic IP page, click "Choose a Network" button to select network.
note

You can assign a Virtual Machine or Load Balancer either Create A Elastic IP step or after.

  1. Click "Create A Elastic IP" button.
info
  • Virtual Machine must be connected to an external network via a router. If it lacks this connection, IP address can be assigned but this is private, and its external access is restricted.
  • There must be alignment between the network where the Elastic IP is intended to be created and the network of the virtual machine. In other words, the network where the Elastic IP is to be created should match the network of the virtual machine. This ensures the use of Elastic IP addresses in a properly configured network environment. Fulfilling all these criteria enables efficient network configuration.

Re-assign a Elastic IP Address

  1. Click the ellipsis icon next to the Elastic IP Address, and then click "Unassign".
  2. Once the Virtual Machine name disappears in the Assigned to column, click the ellipsis icon again, and then select "Assign".
  3. In the Assign Elastic IP Address Page, select a VM network interface with a fixed private IP address.
  4. Click "Assign".

Delete a Elastic IP Address

  1. Unassign it from a Virtual Machine. Click the ellipsis icon next to the Elastic IP Address, and then click "Unassign".
  2. Click the ellipsis icon again, and then select "Delete".
